A photo of the white-tailed eagle was taken in the Polistovsky Nature Reserve (Pskov region) during the spring monitoring of avifauna. The bird is listed in the Red Book of Russia, the press service of the organization reports.

The white-tailed eagle is a large bird of prey from the genus Falconiformes. Its body length ranges from 70 to 90 cm, and its wingspan is up to 230 cm. The color of the bird's plumage is gray, except for the tail, which is why it got its name.

The Red-book feathered bird feeds mainly on fish, and nests are built on tall trees of the marsh islands of the reserve.

During the accounting, two meetings with the eagle were recorded. The experts also monitored the abundance and species composition of the avifauna, as well as changes occurring during the spring migration. Records were kept based on the voices of birds and visual observations.

The desk processing of the received material is currently underway, the Pskov News feed writes. Ornithologists promised to share the detailed results of the study later.

Earlier, Izvestia reported that American biotechnologists had announced an important scientific achievement. Scientists have managed to recreate a species of terrible wolves that became extinct more than 12 thousand years ago, which gained fame thanks to the cult TV series "Game of Thrones".
