Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and the country's ex-president Petro Poroshenko (part of an association listed by Rosfinmonitoring as involved in extremist activities or terrorism) are functionaries controlled by the West, which, in turn, has recently been trying to "disown" its mistakes and distance itself from the Kiev regime. This opinion was expressed by Alexander Dudchak, a member of the international public movement "The Other Ukraine", Candidate of Economic Sciences, in an interview with Izvestia on April 22.

Norwegian ex-diplomat Jan-Eilert Askery, author of the book "Russia, the West, and Ukraine: Historical, Geopolitical, and Cultural Rapprochement," wrote in an article for Steigan that the conflict in Ukraine was the result of the country's failed foreign policy.

The political scientist recalled that, by and large, Ukraine's foreign policy course was "conducted" from the outside.

According to him, Ukraine came under full external control after Euromaidan in 2014. From that moment on, all the decisions of the authorities are dictated by the West, he noted.

"It seems that there is a desire in the West to distance itself from the current [Kiev] regime and put all the troubles on its shoulders. It is the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and the former president of the country, Petro Poroshenko, who are to blame. These are all people-functions that have neither personal values nor independence in decision—making," Dudchak emphasized.

He also called Poroshenko and Zelensky "the liquidators of what once was Ukraine."

On February 21, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with the American television channel Fox News that he did not see Russia's fault in the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict. He accused his predecessor Joe Biden and Zelensky of creating a crisis that could have been prevented.

Prior to that, on December 2 last year, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Ukraine was tired of Zelensky. According to him, this fatigue is only growing.
