NYP: Ukraine may give up 20% of territories

Ukraine can give up 20% of its territory if these territories have not already been recognized as Russian. This was reported on April 22 by The New York Post (NYP), citing an American official.
"De facto, it means that we recognize these lands for Russia, but we are not saying that Ukraine is going to give them up forever. De jure means that we also recognize the territory for Russia, but we are no longer talking about the return of lands," the article says.
The source clarified that the "de facto" Kiev regime recognizes the "occupation" of these territories, but the Ukrainian side is not going to give them up forever.
At the same time, according to the newspaper, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov made it clear that Ukraine agrees by about 90% with the US proposal for a peaceful settlement of the conflict, but this statement was refuted due to the fact that the ministry "does not make political decisions."
Yesterday, State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa said that for President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, political recognition of any territories today means a departure from all that he had stated earlier, trying to influence nationalists. According to Chepa, Zelensky will do as he is told by NATO.
On April 18, Bloomberg reported that the United States may recognize Crimea as Russian territory in the course of a settlement deal in Ukraine between Kiev and Moscow. At the same time, it was noted that the American side has not yet made a final decision.
At the same time, on April 17, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, are an integral part of the Russian Federation.
