- The Investigative Committee has identified the Ukrainian Armed Forces militant who fired at residential buildings in the Kursk region.

Military investigators have opened a criminal case against Sergei Safronov, a serviceman of the 92nd division of the assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VFU), due to the shelling of residential buildings in the Kursk region. This was announced on April 22 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
"The investigation established that on August 23, 2024, Safronov, as part of the Ukrainian armed forces, actually invaded the territory of the Russian Federation in order to commit a terrorist act," the department's Telegram channel clarifies.
The Investigative Committee reported that Safronov systematically shelled residential buildings, which at that time were inhabited by civilians, in the village of Sleeping in the Kursk region. As a result, civilian infrastructure was damaged and housing was destroyed. A criminal case has been opened against him on the fact of murder, as well as the deliberate destruction of other people's property.
In addition, Safronov is involved in another criminal case on a terrorist act committed by a group of individuals, which is currently being considered in court.
On April 20, the Investigative Committee reported that military investigators had opened a criminal case in connection with the murder of a civilian by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Korenevsky district of the Kursk region. Kiev regime militants hit a civilian car with a drone, killing the driver.
