A resident of the Chelyabinsk region, who provided financial assistance to a military organization whose activities are directed against Russia's security, was charged in a case of treason. This was announced on April 22 by the FSB regional press service.
The illegal activity of the citizen was identified and suppressed in March 2024. According to the FSB of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region, he was a supporter of pro-Ukrainian ideology. The man took an active part in opposition online communities. The detainee posted publicly available materials, the content of which was related to the call to participate in terrorist and extremist activities.
As a result, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against the man in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code ("Public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism"), Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code ("Public calls to carry out extremist activities committed using the Internet").
As part of the investigation, it was also established that in the period from October 2022 to May 2023, the detainee transferred funds to a military organization whose activities are directed against the security of Russia. Therefore, a case was also opened against the man under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("High treason").
Earlier, on April 11, it was reported that a teenager from the Orel region was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for setting fire to a relay cabinet on behalf of the special services of Ukraine. A criminal case was opened against him under Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("High treason") and Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code ("Sabotage").
