Forest fire services in Russia extinguished 49 fires in a day


In Russia, forest fire services were able to extinguish 49 fires in a day. This was announced on April 22 by the press service of the FBU "Avialesookhrana".
"Over the past day, 49 forest fires have been extinguished in Russia in 18 regions. Work is underway to extinguish 68 forest fires in seven regions," the Telegram channel says.
The ministry clarified that more than 2.5 thousand people, 420 pieces of equipment, as well as five aircraft were involved in extinguishing the fires.
The day before, it became known that 878 landscape fires have occurred in the Trans-Baikal Territory on an area of more than 300 thousand hectares since the beginning of the current 2025. Of these, there are 302 forest fires on a total area of more than 280 thousand hectares. Since the beginning of the fire season, a 69% increase in forest fires has been recorded, while a 36% decrease in dry grass has been observed.
On April 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the government, demanded a timely response to forest fires and to avoid serious consequences. He noted that in at least eight regions of Russia, the number of forest fires significantly exceeded last year's figures.
