Artist Konstantin Miroshnik called Tsereteli the most important sculptor in the world.

Sculptor Zurab Tsereteli was the main sculptor in the world, whose work was known in all countries. Artist Konstantin Miroshnik told Izvestia about this on April 22.

"The most important sculptor in the world <...> Everyone says that he is a Russian sculptor. He put up [his sculptures] in Argentina, in Brazil," he said.

Miroshnik noted that Tsereteli was a patriot and loved Russia. He also said that the sculptor was a pleasant, kind and calm person.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts considered both Russia and Georgia to be his homeland.

The death of sculptor and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli became known earlier that day. His assistant Sergey Shagulashvili told Izvestia that the sculptor died of cardiac arrest in his studio at home.

On April 22, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Tsereteli was a world-renowned artist and a true people's diplomat. According to Zakharova, Tsereteli's work will continue to live on in the stained glass windows and enamels adorning foreign institutions, as well as in monuments and sculptures that are located around the world.
