- The law on the restriction of paid education may be adopted in the spring session of the State Duma.

The law on the restriction of paid education may be adopted in the spring session of the State Duma. Yana Lantratova, head of the Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations, told Izvestia about this.
"The first reading of the bill is scheduled for May, and I assume that it may be adopted in final reading before the end of the session. The new standards will help solve the problem of an imbalance in the labor market and a shortage of qualified personnel," Lantratova told Izvestia.
According to her, unfortunately, many universities have now turned into "diploma factories", churning out specialists in unclaimed specialties.
"We propose to give the government the right to set quotas for paid places. Universities will be able to accept students on a commercial basis only within these quotas. This does not mean that there will be no paid education. This means that it will become more targeted and effective," the MP stressed.
Earlier, Izvestia reported that three committees had already come out in support of the bill — education, civil society development and health protection.
