Directors of Moscow theaters told about their vision of Hamlet

Hamlet is premiering in five theaters in Moscow, but each director has shown a different story. Portal mos.ru On April 22, he told us which Moscow theaters "Hamlet" is currently playing in, and found out the uniqueness of each of the productions.

For example, at the Taganka Theater, Hamlet was staged not based on the original text, but based on the play by Nika Ratmanova based on the work of William Shakespeare. Director Murat Abulkatinov delves into Hamlet's inner world in search of answers to existential questions, presenting the character as a defenseless romantic.

At the same time, Mark Zakharov's production of Hamlet in Lenkom is a tragedy of imperfection. So, director Anton Yakovlev answers the main questions — what is war inside a person and is it possible to combine the search for God and the desire to destroy?

Konstantin Bogomolov staged the play "Hamlet in Moscow" at the Bronnaya Theater, taking into account modern realities, writing history into modern Moscow life. He answers Shakespeare's eternal questions: duty and revenge, reflections on life and death. The production takes place in the arena-stage format, where the audience is as close as possible to what is happening, and during the intermission in the lobby, the action also continues with live music.

Shakespeare Hamlet was staged in the Mossovet Theater in a prose translation by Mikhail Morozov. In the production, the Middle Ages fits into a modern setting. Evgenia Kryukova, Sergey Yushkevich, Alexander Yatsko, Vitaly Kischenko, Valery Yaremenko and other actors play in the play.

In addition, Hamlet is also shown at the Moscow Youth Theater. Director Vyacheslav Spesivtsev, People's Artist of Russia, uses bright colors and musical hits by The Beatles in the performance.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on March 27 that 259 premieres took place in the capital's theaters last year. According to him, since 2013, the construction, reconstruction, restoration and overhaul of 103 buildings and premises in 41 city theaters have been completed. It is planned to renovate nine more buildings in the capital by 2030, including the Moscow Operetta Theater, the Hermitage Theater and the Taganka Theater.
