The expert spoke about the increase in car prices by autumn due to the new recycling scheme.

The cost of cars may increase by 10-15% by autumn due to the introduction of a new recycling calculation system from May 1. This was announced on April 22 by Maria Ermilova, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance for Sustainable Development at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

She clarified that the price increase will occur after all the cars in the warehouses are sold out. According to her, such cars will retain their old value.

"Most likely, we will be able to observe a more significant price change in the fall," Ermilova said in an interview with the Prime agency.

The expert noted that the majority of cars that are imported into the country via parallel imports will fall under the new scheme. She added that the price of some brands may increase by 20-25%. Cars imported through Belarus and Kyrgyzstan will also fall into this category.

Ermilova clarified that at the moment the amount of scrap collection can reach 660 thousand rubles per car for sale. At the same time, if the car is for personal purposes, the fee will be several thousand rubles. If the car is not registered and sold during the year, it will be possible to receive a reduced fee.

In her opinion, with the growth of recycling, the price of cars will increase in any case. Ermilova added that in this case, the demand for cars will decrease. This, in turn, is not the best trend for the market.

"In order not to overpay, it is worth considering stocks in dealers' warehouses," the expert said.
