Stavropol doctor told about the danger of nuts for children
Nuts are completely contraindicated for young children, said Roman Sholom, head of the Stavropol Pediatric Endoscopic department. He also shared a real case from his medical practice.
According to the doctor, if a child chokes on a nut, it will definitely get into the respiratory tract, which is very dangerous for health. And a battery or coin is less of a threat, since they most often end up in the stomach and are easier to get, the doctor notes.
Sholom told about a child from Mineralnye Vody who ate churchkhella and choked on nuts, which caused him to get barotrauma. The boy was taken to the intensive care unit and was intrigued so that he could somehow catch his breath.
"As a result, a third of his trachea was closed, the left main bronchus, the right main bronchus, the lower lobar bronchus on the right, the middle lobe on the right, that is, he did not breathe at all," explained the head, quoted by IA StavropolMedia.
The doctor collected all the equipment and went to the city to save the child. The doctor managed to get all the foreign bodies out of the bronchi. The boy suffered prolonged oxygen starvation and could have remained disabled.
Earlier in April, it was reported that Russian doctors had conducted successful multi-stage treatment for a child with an extremely rare course of severe illness — late reactivation of retinopathy of prematurity.
