The United States may offer investments to Russia for cooperation on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on April 21 by the publication Responsible Statecraft (RS).

"The United States could offer to lift sanctions on projects in the Arctic or guarantee Western investments if Russia cooperates on Ukraine," the article says.

According to the newspaper, Washington is interested in relations with Moscow in the Arctic region. The article noted that the Russian side has the largest icebreaking fleet. It is also specified that it surpasses the fleets of the United States and its allies in total. At the same time, it is emphasized that the Russian Federation has seven nuclear icebreakers, which the United States and its allies do not have.

It is assumed that Russia, among other things, can benefit from this cooperation.

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), announced on March 27 the creation of an investment fund for the development of the Arctic by the end of this year. According to him, the fund's investors will include both Russian and Arab participants, as well as potential co-investors from the Global South and the West. At the same time, he clarified that all investments should be under the full control of Russia.
