In 2030, about 90% of trains in the Moscow Metro will consist of new-generation railcars. This forecast was given by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, noting that the authorities plan to purchase about 2 thousand more wagons of the "most modern series."

In his Telegram channel, the mayor recalled that the first Moscow train left eight years ago on the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line, which became "a new stage in the development of the Moscow metro." The purple line of the Moscow subway is one of the most in demand, with about 930,000 trips per day.

"Moscow", a modern train, got its name based on the results of voting on the portal "Active Citizen", where this name was supported by over 220 thousand residents of the capital. "The trains were specially designed for the Moscow Metro. And in terms of technical characteristics, comfort and safety parameters, they have become one of the best in the world," the mayor noted.

Trains have through passages and the widest doors, additional seats for passengers, USB charging for gadgets, interactive subway schemes, modern climate control and video surveillance systems, as well as special places for wheelchairs. Trains began to run more smoothly, and their energy efficiency increased, Sobyanin added.

According to the mayor, today there are over 1.5 thousand Moscow wagons running on five lines in the capital's subway.

Earlier in April, Sobyanin announced that Moscow metro builders had begun tunneling the right-hand tunnel between Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and Linden Grove stations on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line. The Victoria shield is used for the work, which "should cover about 2.3 km, including about 200 meters under the Moskva riverbed," the mayor said.

Work on the construction of the left tunnel began in February using the Natalie tunnel complex. The two mentioned mechanized complexes are working in parallel on the construction of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line — tunnels have already been built using them between Zvenigorodskaya and Narodnoe Opolchenie stations, and the latter is connected to General Karbyshev Boulevard, the mayor said.
