- The White House has expressed Trump's strong support for the work of Pentagon Chief Hegseth.

US President Donald Trump strongly supports the activities of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. This was announced on April 21 by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt after the media reported on another leak of classified data involving the Pentagon chief.
"The President has absolute confidence in Minister Hegseth. I talked to him about it this morning, and he strongly supports his work," Leavitt was quoted as saying at a briefing by The Hill newspaper.
The spokeswoman added that the entire Pentagon is opposed to the current head of the military department and the changes he is trying to make in his post. However, Trump fully supports the "tremendous work" that Hegseth is doing.
On April 20, The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing sources, reported that Hegseth had sent detailed information about the strikes by the US Armed Forces in Yemen to the Signal messenger chat, which also included his wife Jennifer, brother Phil and lawyer Tim Parlatore. As indicated in the media, he shared the same data in a scandalous chat in which the editor of The Atlantic appeared.
The scandalous publication of The Atlantic magazine discussing attacks on the Houthis by the US administration became known on March 25. Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, said that on March 11, he received a request to connect to Signal from a user under the nickname Mike Waltz. Two days later, Goldberg received a notification about being added to a group chat called "Houthis small group."
On March 28, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the US Secretary of Defense was criticized for taking his wife with him to important meetings where classified information could be discussed.
