Russian ice dancing champions Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva and Egor Bazin have decided to end their careers. Alexander Zhulin, the coach of the duo, told about this on April 21.

"Lisa and Egor have finished their careers. Very good and talented athletes, I respect their opinion — they wanted to finish, so this is the decision," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to Zhulin, it always becomes a pity when athletes of this level decide to end their careers. Khudaiberdiyeva is 22 years old, and Bazin is 29 years old. They became champions of Russia in 2023.

Keith McConnell, the organization's sports director, said during a press conference following the results of the executive committee on April 9 that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is discussing with the winter sports federations the possibility of athletes from Russia and Belarus participating in the 2026 Olympic Games to be held in Italy.

He believes that athletes should not be punished for the actions of their countries.
