The A-289 highway leading from Krasnodar to Crimea will become toll-free from Tuesday, April 22. It was taken over by the state-owned Avtodor company, according to the organization's social media.

The four-lane road with 10 interchanges and lighting was opened in December 2024, making it free of charge during the final retrofitting. Its length is 118.6 km.

By now, the highway has been equipped with a barrier-free toll collection system. Sensors are installed on the frames above the road that read the information and calculate the amount. Transponder owners and frequent road users are promised discounts.

According to information from IA SevastopolMedia, there is an alternative free route for those who want to save money.

Earlier it was reported that the highway bypassing Alushta is planned to be completed by the end of 2026. It will reduce the travel time from Simferopol to Yalta by about an hour.
