- Argentina will declare seven days of mourning in connection with the death of Pope Francis.

Argentine President Javier Miley will declare seven days of mourning over the death of Pope Francis. This was announced on April 21 by the press secretary of the Argentine leader, Manuel Adorni.
"The president of the country will declare seven days of mourning in connection with the death of the Holy Father," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In addition, all public events scheduled for April 21 and 22 have been canceled in Rome.
"As a sign of respect and sorrow over the death of the Holy Father, all public events scheduled for today and tomorrow have been canceled," the Mayor's office website says.
The death of Pope Francis at the age of 89 became known earlier that day. It is noted that the pontiff died at his residence in the Vatican house of Santa Marta.
The last time the pope appeared in public was on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica during Easter celebrations the day before. The pontiff has been struggling with bilateral pneumonia for a long time.
