Mishustin pointed out the priority importance of developing ties with Kazakhstan for the Russian Federation

Russia attaches high priority to the development of relations with Kazakhstan in the trade and economic sphere. This was announced on April 21 by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

"Of course, we give priority to strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Our intergovernmental commission is actively working. <...> We advocate strengthening our interregional cooperation," he said during talks with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

The Russian Prime Minister also called Kazakhstan an important partner for Russia in the Eurasian region. He clarified that Moscow values fraternal, good-neighborly, and allied relations with Astana and stressed the development of bilateral contacts in a number of areas, including nuclear energy, industry, and digital technologies.

Mishustin added that currently, about 70% of mutual trade is provided through direct cooperation.

The Prime Minister also asked to convey to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev the warm greetings and best wishes from himself and Russian Leader Vladimir Putin.

On April 17, the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia had a telephone conversation, during which they discussed topical issues of cooperation in the energy sector. The Kremlin's press service clarified that Putin also shared with Tokayev his assessments of the progress of the dialogue between Moscow and Washington.
