A new criminal case has been opened in Transbaikalia due to salmonellosis in 56 shift workers.

A new criminal case has been opened in the Trans-Baikal Territory on the fact of mass poisoning of employees of a gold mining company. This was reported on the website of the regional prosecutor's office on April 21.

They noted that the Mogochinsk interdistrict prosecutor's office conducted an audit of media publications about the poisoning of employees of LLC Zheltuginskaya Mining Company.

So, in March, 56 employees of the organization were diagnosed with salmonellosis and toxicoinfection, and numerous violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards were detected in the company that organizes meals.

"The Prosecutor's Office <...> has initiated cases of administrative offenses against the company under Part 1 of Article 6.4 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the operation of residential premises and public spaces, buildings, structures") and Article 6.6 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological requirements for catering in specially equipped places")," the press service said in a statement.

It is clarified that a new criminal case has also been opened under Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that inadvertently caused mass poisoning of people"). The investigation of this case is under the control of the prosecutor's office, the department stressed.

On March 12, the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Trans-Baikal Territory reported that 45 employees of the Zheltuga mining company had salmonellosis. Later, the number of victims increased to 56, and the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").
