- German politicians have allowed the possibility of electing a woman president of Germany

If a woman holds the post of federal president of Germany in 2027, it will be a signal of equality in Germany. This was announced on April 21 by the Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Schweitzer from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
"Of course, a woman in this position would be a very good signal of equality in our country," he said in an interview with Tagesspiegel.
Ulrike Scharf, chairman of the women's association within the Christian Social Union (CSU), in turn, said that Germany was already "ripe" for electing a woman president.
Marajke Wulff, head of the Lower Saxony Women's Union (member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU)) At the same time, she noted the enormous symbolic power of the office of the President of Germany. In her opinion, the election of a woman to this post will be an important political signal.
It is specified that the current president Frank-Walter Steinmeier will not be able to run for president again, since the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany allows him to hold this post no more than twice.
German presidential elections are scheduled for 2027. According to the German Constitution, a German or a German woman who has the right to vote in Bundestag elections and has reached the age of 40 can become president. The term of office is five years, and re—election is allowed only once.
Earlier, on April 20, Focus magazine reported that the appointment of German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock to the post of chairman of the UN General Assembly could prevent Germany from joining the organization's Security Council. According to the publication, she is perceived as a pro-Israel politician in a number of African, Latin American and Asian countries.
