The expert spoke about safety measures for crops when the temperature drops.

A decrease in temperature in Moscow on April 26 may lead to the death of fruit trees. In order to preserve the harvest, it is necessary to take precautions. Roman Oparin, Associate Professor of the Department of General Biology and Bioecology at the State University of Education, told Izvestia on April 21 how to protect plants during the cold snap.
The expert recommends that you be wary of weather forecasts, because fruit trees have repeatedly suffered from such temperature fluctuations.
"Wrap plants in non—woven fabric or agrofibre - this will help them survive weather stress. Make a kind of antifreeze for plants: water the ground well under the plantings so that it remains warm," Oparin suggested.
He also advises, if possible, not to rush to plant plants and wait for more favorable conditions.
However, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia that, most likely, the weather that awaits Muscovites by the weekend will not affect the harvest.
"By the last days of April, the garden trees — apple trees, cherries, currants — have not yet blossomed, that is, the flowering period has not yet arrived. We can expect that the low temperature that may be in the capital region on the night of April 27, and indeed negative air temperatures are expected there, will not affect our harvest in the following months of the warm season," the forecaster said.
On April 21, Pozdnyakova told Izvestia what kind of weather awaits Muscovites during the week of April 21. According to her, a significant drop in temperature is expected by the weekend. It will rain occasionally on Saturdays, but sleet may also be accepted on the 27th. However, she claims: This does not mean that snow will fall on the surface of the earth.
