China has effective measures and an arsenal of tools to counteract "pressure and bullying" from the United States. This was announced on April 21 by Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui.

"Faced with pressure and bullying from the United States, we clearly understand the situation, we have appropriate effective measures, we have powerful abilities to resist pressure, we have extensive experience in fighting and a sufficient arsenal of tools to respond," he stressed in an interview."Газете.Ru ".

The ambassador added that by imposing trade sanctions and "brandishing a tariff cudgel," the United States violates the rights of other countries and flouts the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Such actions, he said, cause serious damage to the trading system and undermine the global order.

Hanhui noted that there are no winners in trade wars, and pressure on China is not the right approach to deal with China. He said that Beijing will fight to the end and resolutely defend its legitimate and just interests if Washington continues to follow the path of confrontation.

On April 18, Stanislav Mitrakhovich, a leading expert at the National Energy Security Foundation and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that the Chinese economy continues to grow despite the imposition of duties. He noted that deflation in some sectors does not indicate that there are serious forecasts of a possible collapse of the Chinese economy.

On April 17, the Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported that China is seeking economic rapprochement with the European Union (EU) amid a trade war with the United States. According to the newspaper, China sent trade delegations to European capitals. In addition, Chinese factories are already exploring the possibility of redirecting products to the continent's markets.

Prior to that, on April 9, US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of duties imposed on a number of countries for 90 days. The head of state also announced an immediate increase in duties on products from China to 125%. On April 10, this figure reached 145%.
