The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, pointed out that large technology companies such as X, Apple, TikTok and Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) must comply with the rules established by the EU. She made a corresponding statement to Politico on April 21.

"The rules adopted by our fellow legislators must be respected. That's why we've opened cases against TikTok, X, Apple, Meta, and many others. We apply the rules fairly, proportionately, and impartially. We don't care where the company comes from or who runs it. We care about protecting people," she said in her written replies.

At the same time, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance was at the forefront of the initiative to resist such restrictions. He criticized the European Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Artificial Intelligence Act, which allegedly censor freedom of speech and stifle innovation in Europe.

On April 15, Von der Leyen announced the disappearance of the West in the usual sense. Thus, she answered the question about the possible leadership of the European Union in the Western world. At the same time, von der Leyen argues that the European Union needs significant changes so that it can be of great importance in shaping a new world order. In her opinion, the association needs to develop in the defense sector and increase its competitiveness.
