Illegal lumber smuggling worth 96 million rubles was revealed in Kansk.

In Kansk, the police revealed illegal lumber smuggling in the amount of 96 million rubles. This was announced on Monday, April 21, by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
It is specified that from October 2020 to May 2022, the 38-year-old director of a logging company, together with a foreigner and with the owners of lumber, whose identities have not yet been established, signed contracts for the export of timber.
After that, they submitted the relevant documents to the customs authorities for declaration. However, the declarations themselves contained inaccurate information about the legality of the exported lumber.
"Thus, 17,287 cubic meters of logging products with a total value of at least 96 million rubles were exported outside the Russian Federation," the agency's Telegram post says.
In this regard, seven criminal cases have been initiated under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important resources by a group of persons by prior agreement"). Now the smugglers face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to 10 years.
The criminal case has been transferred to the Main Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region for further consideration.
The defendants were given a preventive measure in the form of a subscription not to leave and proper behavior, the department concluded.
Earlier, on April 18, it was reported that employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region, together with the central office of the FSB, stopped the channel of illegal export of military products.
