Negotiations between South Korea and the United States may not be easy. This was reported on April 21 by the Reuters news agency, citing a statement by the acting head of the Republic of Korea, Han Dok-soo.

Acting South Korean President Han Dok—soo said on Monday that he expects trade talks with the United States this week in Washington to be the beginning of meaningful cooperation, but added that the negotiations may not be easy.

The diplomatic meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. local time (00:00 Moscow time) on April 24. The Head of State said that the Ministers of Finance and Industry of South Korea will meet with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and representative of the U.S. Trade Mission Jamison Greer.

The Standard reported on March 31 that Japan, China and South Korea plan to work out a common response to Trump's trade duties. It was clarified that the states agreed to strengthen cooperation in the supply chain, as well as to intensify dialogue on export control issues.

On March 4, the American leader doubled import duties on goods from China from 10% to 20% and accused Beijing of failing to combat drug trafficking. According to him, the failure of the Chinese government to take measures to curb the steady influx of opioids into the United States poses an unusual threat.
