Police in Moscow have detained 14 people for selling dietary supplements disguised as medicines through call centers. This was announced on Monday, April 21, by the press service of the Interior Ministry.

"The attackers advertised on the Internet and in the media activities for the provision of various medical services. Through a network of organized call centers, the group members called citizens in need of treatment and, posing as medical workers, gave victims fictitious diagnoses without an actual examination," the agency told TASS.

The Interior Ministry believes that scammers misled people about the need to take medications and sold dietary supplements under their guise.

The department added that four organizers were taken into custody, the rest were given a written undertaking not to leave.

Earlier, on April 16, Izvestia found out during the investigation that the weight loss drugs "Molecule" and "Molecule Plus", which gained popularity thanks to videos on the TikTok social network, contain sibutramine. At the same time, the instructions indicate that the composition of the dietary supplement contains only natural herbal ingredients. Rospotrebnadzor has prepared a requirement to provide documents on the drug content in the popular weight loss products "Molecule" and "Molecule plus".
