The historian advised the EU to ask Zelensky about right-wing extremism in Ukraine

The leaders of the European Union (EU) countries, invited to Kiev on May 9, should ask Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the symbols of Nazi formations in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Marta Gavryshko, Candidate of Historical Sciences at Ivan Franko Lviv National University, wrote about this in an article for Berliner Zeitung on April 20.
As the author pointed out, some of the Ukrainian militants use the emblems of the SS division "Galich" and the battalion "Nachtigall", associated with the Nazis.
"How can this happen in a country whose people sacrificed their lives to liberate Europe from National Socialism?" Gavrishko asked.
The historian also drew attention to the multiple cases of renaming streets and cities that perpetuate the memory of Red Army soldiers, instead naming them after nationalists during World War II.
In addition, according to Gavrishko, some infantry battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine not only wear the symbols of the Ruthenian lion, but also celebrate important historical dates of the SS.
The head of the Kiev regime announced his intention to resist the "parade of Russian leader Vladimir Putin" in Moscow on May 9. In this regard, he invited the leaders of the European Union (EU) to visit Kiev on this day, urging the allies to demonstrate their unity.
On April 18, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko described the proposal of some European politicians to hold events in Kiev dedicated to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War as a "theater of the absurd."
