The shroud of Turin is a funeral shroud in which the body of Christ is believed to have been wrapped. Some time ago, research questioned the authenticity of the shroud, or rather, the time of its creation. Izvestia correspondent Vitaly Chashchukhin reviewed the new research results on April 21.

"The original is kept in a protected and even fireproof place of St. John the Baptist Cathedral, and in front of us is a copy of one of the most mysterious Christian relics," the journalist said.

Emanuela Marinelli, an expert on the Shroud of Turin and a writer, emphasizes that the shroud shows the face, eyes, nose, mustache, hair, chest and wound in the side of Christ.

According to Professor Giulio Fanti, there are traces of wounds on the relic.

"He was breathing with difficulty, his heart was racing, the blood was squeezing his heart — it could no longer beat. These are sufferings that are difficult to even imagine, but we see their confirmation," said Fanti.

The smallest fragment taken for analysis is a kind of "God particle", and the results obtained are another evidence of the true origin of the shroud.

On April 18, the Turin Shroud was carried out at the Good Friday service at the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow. In the Izvestia footage, you can see how the clergy carried her out through the deaconal side doors. Then the shroud was placed in the middle of the temple, after which prayer began.
