A whole town has been built in the Moscow region for filming a new film about Pinocchio

A whole town has been built in the Moskino film Park in the Moscow Region, where a new fairy tale film directed by Igor Voloshin "Pinocchio" is being shot.

On the set of the film there is a square with a town hall, fountains, a trattoria, a bakery, a pharmacy, merchants' shops, Izvestia was convinced after visiting there. The film takes place among yellow houses with red tiled roofs, and there are potted flowers on the balconies. The entourage, as conceived by the creators, is a bit like medieval Florence.

The Pinocchio cast includes stars of all generations. The legend of theater and cinema, People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva plays a Tortilla. Fyodor Bondarchuk transformed into Karabas-Barabas, and Lev Zulkarnaev became his accomplice.

Alexander Yatsenko stars as Papa Carlo, and Alexander Petrov and Victoria Isakova are a pair of adventurers Basilio the cat and Alice the fox. The actors at the Karabas Theater are played by Mark Eidelstein (Artemon), Ruzil Minekaev (Harlequin), Stepan Belozerov (Pierrot) and Anastasia Talyzina (Malvina).

And the creators invited not a boy, but a girl to the main role. Pinocchio will be played by young star Vitaly Kornienko. However, she will give her character only plastic movements and facial expressions, and she will remain behind the scenes.

In the frame, the viewer will see a wooden boy with a long nose, created using computer graphics in 3D. In order for Pinocchio to come to life, motion capture technology is used: sensors and cameras capture the movements and complex facial expressions of the real artist, Vitaly Kornienko, digitize them and use them to animate a computer object.

The film will be released in wide distribution on January 1, 2026, the distributor is NMG Film Distribution.
