President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele has proposed to Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro to extradite 252 Venezuelans deported from the United States and held in El Salvador in exchange for the same number of political prisoners. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 21.

"Nayib Bukele on Sunday proposed a deal to send 252 Venezuelans deported from the United States and imprisoned in his country to Venezuela in exchange for receiving political prisoners held in Venezuela," the agency reports.

According to Bukele, these 252 people are a small part of "thousands of political prisoners" allegedly held by the Maduro regime.

Earlier, on April 9, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sharply condemned the US-imposed trade duties, saying they marked the end of Western globalization. He noted that international trade and economic law, as well as bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, were "mortally wounded."
