Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth sent detailed information about the strikes by the US Armed Forces in Yemen to the Signal messenger chat, which also included his wife Jennifer, brother Phil and lawyer Tim Parlatore. This was reported on Monday, April 20, by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.

"Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about the upcoming strikes in Yemen on March 15 in a closed group chat Signal, which was attended by his wife, brother and personal lawyer," the publication says.

In the chat, Hegset published a flight schedule of F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets sent to attack the Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah rebel movement. As indicated in the media, he shared the same data in a scandalous chat in which the editor of The Atlantic appeared.

It is clarified that Hegseth's brother and lawyer work in the defense department, however, it is not known why they need to have information about the strikes on Yemen. This raises questions about the Pentagon chief's compliance with security protocols, the newspaper concluded.

The scandalous publication of The Atlantic magazine discussing attacks on the Houthis by the US administration became known on March 25. Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, said that on March 11, he received a request to connect to Signal from a user under the nickname Mike Waltz. Two days later, Goldberg received a notification about being added to a group chat called "Houthis small group."

On March 28, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the US Secretary of Defense was criticized for taking his wife with him to important meetings where classified information could be discussed.

On March 30, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he was not going to fire anyone from his team after the scandalous leak of messages from a group chat.
