The doctor, referring to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), noted that the proportion of carbohydrates in the daily diet should not exceed 5-10%. At a rate of 2,000 kcal, this is about 200 kcal or 44 grams of sugar per day, Merkulova explained. The average energy value of Easter is about 300 kcal per 100 g.

"It turns out that you can safely eat 50 grams of Easter cake without harm to your figure," said the nutritionist.

At the same time, it is important to take into account the composition of the product, since the calorie content and sugar content depend on it, the expert warned.

So, according to the doctor, when eating cakes, it is worth reducing the consumption of simple carbohydrates in another part of the diet: replace juice with water, drink tea without sugar or with natural sweeteners.

Merkulova also drew attention to the need to control the quantity and quality of fats. The WHO advises limiting total fat intake to 30% of the daily calorie intake, while saturated fats should be less than 10% and trans fats no more than 1%, the nutritionist concluded.
