The deal with the United States on rare earth metals is unprofitable for Ukraine. This was stated on April 20 by Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko during an interview with the UkrLife YouTube channel.

In his opinion, the preliminary version of the agreement does not provide any security guarantees for Kiev, and also puts Ukraine in a de facto colonial position.

"But Zelensky's arms have been twisted, he has nowhere else to go, he will sign," Bondarenko said.

On April 4, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant expressed hope that the resource deal with Ukraine would be signed. According to him, the United States considers the conclusion of an agreement with Kiev as a situation that will bring mutual benefits.

The Wall Street Journal reported on March 29 that Ukraine would not be able to accept the new terms of the resource deal with the United States. According to the publication, under the new agreement, Washington will not only have access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, but will also be able to benefit from Kiev's economic projects in the field of metals, oil, gas and other natural resources.
