A number of BMW, Audi and Chevrolet models may not be subject to the prohibitive scrappage fee, Izvestia has found out. On May 1, a new procedure for its calculation for imported cars from countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is scheduled to come into force.

The fee should close the last loopholes for cheap car customs clearance. But the new formula for calculating the recycling fee with reliance on the lists of the Ministry of Industry and Trade contains a number of gaps that will allow importing foreign cars from the EAEU countries with a significant discount, experts on car selection told "Izvestia".

For example, sedans BMW 330E, crossovers X3 30E and X5 45E, as well as sedan Audi A6 50 TFSI E, Mercedes GLC 300DE, Buick Encore and some others are not reflected in the lists of the Ministry and the FCS, which means that the recycling fee on them is calculated according to the economic methodology. This loophole is now being studied by the "shuttles".

A simplified formula is used in the calculation of scrappage duty for these cars.

"As a result, when importing a three-year-old hybrid crossover BMW X3 30E from Belarus, which is not on the list of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the owner will have to pay only 15600 rubles for the recycling fee, if 12 months have passed since customs clearance in the EAEU countries. For comparison, for the popular BMW X3 30I, the duty for individuals is already 606,270 rubles," Roman Trofimov, an expert in car selection, told Izvestia.

BMW X5 45E and Mercedes GLC 300DE were not included in the list of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, for which the duty is also calculated according to a simplified formula and is 40 times less than for analogs with conventional motors. It is on them that the car transporters are beginning to focus.
