The United Kingdom authorities plan to increase the pace of production of weapons and explosives in the country in order to end dependence on the United States in the defense sector. This was reported on April 20 by The Times newspaper.

"The defense industry will increase ammunition production amid concerns about the reliability of [US President Donald] Trump and the growing global demand," the newspaper reports.

Steve Cardew, a member of the management of BAE, the UK's largest defense company, announced a new technology for the production of rdx, which the corporation will use for the first time in the world. In total, the group's production facilities will be able to produce up to 100 tons of explosives per year.

Cardew also pointed out that such a technology for the production of rdx could later be transferred to other countries.

On April 16, The Telegraph newspaper reported that the UK would support Germany's decision to supply Taurus missiles for the needs of the Ukrainian army.

On April 17, the Bundestag announced an increase in skepticism in Germany regarding the shipment of Taurus to Ukraine. Earlier, on April 14, Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), announced his readiness to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine in coordination with European partners.
