- The deputy commander of the IDF will be dismissed after the incident with the shelling of doctors in Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will dismiss the deputy commander of the Golani Brigade intelligence unit after an incident involving the shelling of medical workers in Gaza, which killed 15 people. This was announced on April 20 on the website of the military department.
"Deputy Commander Sayeret Golani will step down from his position due to his duties as commander of the forces on the ground, as well as incomplete and inaccurate reports during the investigation," the statement said.
The tragedy occurred on March 23 in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli army unit was in ambush waiting for the militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. Earlier, the military had already attacked a car that was identified as a terrorist vehicle. After that, the sentry reported that five pieces of equipment were approaching the positions at high speed, which the IDF mistook for a Hamas detachment that went to help the passengers of the first car. As a result, fire was opened on the convoy, but it later turned out that these were ambulances.
15 minutes later, IDF soldiers also opened fire on a United Nations (UN) vehicle.
"The incident was initially reported by the force commander, and additional details were discovered during the subsequent investigation. In total, 15 Palestinians were killed in the incidents, six of whom were identified as Hamas terrorists during the subsequent investigation," the military said.
On April 15, the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported, citing the Gaza Ministry of Health, that more than 51,000 people had been killed in the enclave since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began. In addition, over 116,000 residents of the Gaza Strip were injured.
The IDF resumed military operations against Hamas in Gaza on March 18. The press service of the Gaza Ministry of Health reported on March 28 that more than 890 people have been killed and over 1,980 injured in Israeli attacks since then.
