Dubai's Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese technology company Baidu for the large-scale implementation of unmanned Apollo Go taxis. This was announced on Sunday, April 20, by the press service of the Government of the emirate on its website.

"The company will begin experimental operation of 50 autonomous vehicles in the coming months, which will pave the way for the official public launch of the service in 2026," the press release says.

As indicated, the full-fledged use of unmanned taxis is expected as early as next year. At the same time, the number of autonomous vehicles is planned to increase to 1 thousand units within three years.

Earlier, on April 9, Sergey Kogogin, CEO of KAMAZ, announced that unmanned cargo vehicles will begin mass production at the auto giant in 2028. KAMAZ provided three unmanned vehicles for moving in the Moscow region — two Mayak-1 trucks and a second-generation Mayak-2 car. All of them are based on the KamAZ-54901 mainline tractor.
