The United States would like to extend the Easter truce in Ukraine and the subsequent long-term settlement of the crisis. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 20, citing the State Department.

"We remain committed to achieving a full and comprehensive ceasefire," a State Department official said in a statement.

The ministry also expressed hope that the full ceasefire would be extended after Sunday and would contribute to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

On April 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had not given instructions to extend the Easter truce.

Earlier that day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), violating the announced Easter truce, tried to attack the settlements of Sukhaya Balka and Bogatyr in the Donetsk People's Republic, their strikes were repelled. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used 48 aircraft-type drones at night. One of them was sent to the territory of Crimea.

On April 19, Putin announced an Easter truce in a special operation to protect Donbass during a meeting with the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov. The Head of State noted that Kiev's compliance with the truce regime would show how sincerely Kiev was striving for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
