- In Germany, Berbok's appointment as head of the UN General Assembly was considered a threat to the country's place in the Security Council.

The appointment of German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock to the post of chairman of the UN General Assembly may prevent Germany from joining the UN Security Council. Focus magazine wrote about this on Sunday, April 20.
"There are concerns that Burbock may lose the votes of the countries of the Global South, which are ultimately crucial to the vote," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, Burbok is perceived as a pro-Israel politician in a number of African, Latin American and Asian countries.
On March 18, the DPA news agency reported that the German government had proposed Burbok as a candidate for the post of President of the UN General Assembly for 2025-2026. Zakharova called the German government's plans strange.
