The media reported record low gas reserves in Ukraine

Due to the record low level of reserves, Ukraine may need to import 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas for the next winter season. This was reported on April 20 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the former head of the Ukrainian gas transit operator Sergey Makogon.
"As of April 16, at the end of the winter-spring season, the storage level was the "lowest in history" and amounted to 0.7 billion cubic meters — 2.22% of the total storage capacity," he is quoted in the publication.
According to Makogon's calculations, the country needs to reserve at least 12.8 billion cubic meters of gas. At the same time, the state oil and gas company of Ukraine Naftogaz announced the required volume of imports at a lower level — 4.6 billion cubic meters.
Even purchases in the amount indicated by Naftogaz will cost the country about $3 billion. Currently, Kiev can only buy 0.4 billion cubic meters.
In February, it became known that in Ukraine, residents of Krivoy Rog went to a rally due to the lack of heating for more than two months. At that time, about 600 houses were left without heating.
Earlier, on January 31, it was reported that the Ukrainian company Naftogaz began importing gas to pass the heating season, despite the fact that in July the company announced that the country would survive the winter on its own gas.
