The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who were captured during the invasion of the Kursk region, were given Easter cakes, "spiritual first-aid kits", and also given the opportunity to confess. This was reported to Izvestia on April 20 in the Popular Front.

"I absolve you of your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. God forgive you and bless you," said prison and military Archpriest Alexander Zinchenko.

The Popular Front noted that many prisoners of war told about their training in Great Britain, Latvia, and Germany. Such training contains neither ideology, nor physical training, nor work with civilians, that is, we are talking about "one-way attack aircraft."

On April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the Easter truce during a meeting with the head of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. At the same time, the head of state stressed that the Russian military must be ready to repel possible violations of the truce and provocations by Ukrainian militants.

Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Easter ceasefire was being introduced for humanitarian purposes and would be respected by the Russian military if the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not violate it.
