An electric scooter exploded in an apartment in Izhevsk

An electric scooter, which was charging, exploded in an apartment on Kommunarov Street in Izhevsk, which led to a fire. This was announced on April 20 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Udmurtia.

"The 67-year-old owner of the apartment put the electric scooter on charge around 11 p.m. At about 15:30, a pop occurred in the transport device, followed by a fire. Confused, the man opened the door on the balcony to ventilate the room from the smoke, but the flame began to flare up stronger from the new oxygen flow," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

It is specified that the residents of the apartment managed to extinguish the flames with improvised means. The fire area was 6 sq. m.

In August last year, a 13-year-old girl died as a result of a fire in Omsk, which started due to a short circuit in the battery of a scooter. A criminal case was opened into the tragedy.
