The third round of negotiations between Iran and the United States on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program will be held in Muscat with the participation of mediators. This was announced on April 20 by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib-Abadi.

"The Iranian-American talks in Muscat will be indirect," the IRIB news agency quoted him as saying.

Gharib-Abadi added that at the previous round of negotiations with the United States, an understanding was reached on the general provisions of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

On April 12, the first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on the lifting of sanctions and nuclear issues ended. During the meeting, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in the presence of Omani Foreign Minister Badr Bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues.

On April 19, the second stage of negotiations took place. The Iranian delegation was headed by Araqchi. Washington was represented by Witkoff.

On April 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to mediate and play any role in the negotiations between the United States and Iran. The head of the Department noted that the Islamic Republic is ready to seek this agreement within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
