Sobyanin called Easter day a symbol of the triumph of faith

Easter, which is celebrated this Sunday by millions of Orthodox Christians, is a celebration of "the victory of life and the triumph of faith." This opinion was expressed by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, congratulating the Orthodox residents of the capital on the holiday.
"Easter gives us light and hope, sets us up for purity of thought and good deeds," he wrote on his Telegram channel. The atmosphere of the beloved holiday "fills the capital's temples, streets, squares and houses of Muscovites," and the Easter Gift charity festival and the Moscow Easter Music Festival help create it, Sobyanin added.
These events combine "tradition and modernity, spiritual values and helping people," the mayor emphasized.
He wished all Muscovites, their families and friends good health, warmth and well-being.
Earlier on Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated all Orthodox Christians on Easter. "During the Easter celebrations, I would like to note with deep satisfaction that today, as at all times, the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations play a great, inspiring role in strengthening social harmony and mutual understanding between people," the head of state said in an address published on the Kremlin's website.
