The sanctions and trade duties imposed by US President Donald Trump indicate the end of the era of globalism. This was announced on April 19 by Robert Skidelsky, a member of the House of Lords in the British Parliament.

"Globalization was coming to an end anyway. Sanctions were a very important element in its collapse," the politician said in an interview with Norwegian political analyst Glenn Diesen on his YouTube channel.

In addition, he noted that Trump's tariff policy accelerated this process and divided the world into three groups: supporters of restrictions, their opponents and people who are in the middle. Skidelsky stressed that because of this, it is not necessary to consider the global economy as a single whole.

According to Skidelsky, what is happening in the world now resembles the Cold War, when NATO, led by the United States, the Warsaw Pact Organization, where the USSR played the main role, and the Non-Aligned Movement with China and India existed in a similar format of confrontation.

Earlier, on April 6, the end of the era of globalization was announced in the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer against the background of the introduction of duties by the United States. As noted in the article, the devastating consequences for the global economy testified to the need for the British government to "act more decisively and faster."
