According to the investigation, four of the dead children were the children of a local resident who was absent from home, and another child was her friend, he stayed at a party.

Earlier that day, a fire broke out in Astrakhan. After its liquidation, firefighters found the bodies of five children aged from 4 to 11 years. at the same time, their mother was absent from home.
