The Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, pointed out the inconsistency of the duties imposed by the head of the United States, Donald Trump, using the example of the wisdom of Chinese traditional medicine. This was announced on March 20 on the website of the diplomatic mission.

"Traditional Chinese medicine says that "when treating a disease, it is necessary to look for its root." We cannot treat the symptoms without eliminating the cause. Instead, we should take an honest look at our problems, identify the cause of the disease, and prescribe the right medicine. Global economic growth has entered a period of slowdown," the diplomat stated.

It clarifies that the main problem of the global economy is insufficient growth. But to solve it, one should think not only about the short term, but also about the future consequences.

"Globalization, interconnection and complementary advantages have become the foundation of global prosperity over the past decades, and are the only way for all countries to achieve sustainable common development. Using interdependence as a weapon will only lead to self—isolation and harm both sides," the embassy said.

It was also emphasized that in the first quarter of 2025, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.4% year-on-year. This allowed the state to take one of the leading positions among the strongest economies in the world.

"We will adhere to the principles of "opening doors" rather than "closing doors", "tearing down walls" rather than "building walls", "empowerment" rather than "competition for profit", and bring stability and certainty to the world through high-quality development and a high level of openness." — they were imprisoned at the embassy.

On February 1, US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing trade tariffs of 25% on goods from Canada, China and Mexico. At the same time, he promised to impose duties on goods from the EU. With this decision, Trump seeks to reduce the flow of the opioid fentanyl across the border, as well as the flow of migrants.

Chinese economist Andrew Leung, in turn, told Izvestia that the tariffs that Trump is imposing on imports from China and Mexico will lead to an increase in consumer prices in the United States itself.
