Thousands of protesters took to the streets of the United States to protest against the policies of American President Donald Trump. The New York Times (NYT) reported on this on Saturday, April 19.

The protesters believe that Trump is "trampling on civil liberties and the rule of law," pursuing an overly harsh immigration policy, cutting federal jobs, and harming the country's economy with his actions.

The protesters repeatedly shouted the word "shame" in front of the White House.

Several thousand more people marched from the Washington Monument to protest the White House's refusal to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a legal migrant who was brutally and illegally deported to El Salvador.

Earlier, on April 5, large demonstrations against Trump took place in the United States. The protesters are outraged by the promotion of the entrepreneur and the head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk's USA, reduction of spending on healthcare, reduction of measures to support the environment and national parks. In particular, the protesters are opposed to the introduction of import duties.

On April 2, Trump announced large-scale measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been increased to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again.
