- The Iranian ambassador stated the need to discuss the restoration of sanctions with China and Russia.

Iran needs to discuss with Russia and China the potential restoration of sanctions by Britain, Germany and France ("Eurotroika"), lifted under the nuclear deal. This was announced on Saturday, April 19, by the republic's Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali.
"We must consult with our partners China and Russia on the issue of threats from the Eurotroika regarding the activation of the snapback mechanism (Which allows the restoration of all UN Security Council sanctions against Tehran. — Ed.)," he said in an interview with the SNN TV channel.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), enshrined in UN Security Council Resolution 2231, was concluded in 2015 between Iran on the one hand and the United States, Russia, China and three European participants — France, Germany and the United Kingdom — on the other. The United States withdrew from the deal in 2018. Since then, several rounds of negotiations have taken place in Vienna aimed at restoring the agreement, but it has not yet been possible to come close to reaching an agreement.
On April 19, the second stage of negotiations between Tehran and Washington on the nuclear program took place in Rome.
On April 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was ready to mediate and play any role in the negotiations between the United States and Iran. The head of the Department noted that the Islamic Republic is ready to seek this agreement within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
