The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatiana Moskalkova, called on the head of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to maintain the Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin for the sake of the people of Ukraine. She told reporters about this on April 19.

"For the sake of Ukrainian families, for the sake of those relatives and friends who are waiting for the return and rescue of their people, of course, Zelensky is simply obliged to support this initiative," she said.

According to Moskalkova, the very decision on the truce is a merciful and humane act.

On April 19, Putin announced the Easter truce. At the same time, the head of state stressed that the Russian military must be ready to repel possible violations of the truce and provocations by Ukrainian militants. On the same day, Zelensky declared Ukraine's readiness to adhere to the Easter truce.
